Antique victorian seed pearl crescent moon star necklace, in 9 carat gold

A wonderful Victorian piece, this gorgeous crescent moon necklace has a wonderful celestial aura to it. The articulated centrepiece is studded with shimmery seed pearls, two lovely foliate detailed leaves flanking a central crescent moon and star.

Celestial jewellery gained huge popularity in the Victorian era, with lovely sentiment and symbolism behind it. The crescent moon and star motif has multiple meanings, depicting guidance, change and new beginnings (lunar phases) and female empowerment. The moon and star as a duo was believed to convey the message 'I love you to the moon and back'.

This radiant necklace is finished with a barrel clasp, one of the most durable and secure fastenings, whilst not sacrificing beauty.

This piece is in stunning antique condition, signs of use and wear as expected with age. Clasp fastens securely, stones secure in settings - on the left tip, there is a tiny seed pearl missing - very difficult to spot!

This piece measures approximately 43cm in length.
