Antique victorian old mine cut diamond & onyx brooch, in 9 carat gold

An absolutely gorgeous little piece, this brooch dates to the Victorian era with all the charm and character to show for it. Starting with the brooch itself, the form and closure is that of a safety pin, a highly sought after component in the antique jewellery world. The sleek form and polished look pairs perfectly with the bold oval centrepiece, which is finished with a flat closed back. A lovely bezel frame holds the dark onyx stone, with a gold star painted atop. In the centre of the star lies a small yet stunning old mine cut diamond.

This item is in beautiful antique condition, signs of use and wear as expected with age. Minor patina and natural tarnish throughout. The diamond is secure in its settings and the clasp fastens securely.
