Antique diamond five stone ring, in 18ct gold

A gorgeous antique diamond five stone ring, crafted in rich 18 carat yellow gold and dating to the early 20th century.

Five graduated diamonds are set across the front, with the largest stone at the centre and progressively smaller diamonds towards each shoulder. The stones are held within a wonderfully detailed carved setting, with scrolling gold shoulders and an open gallery allowing light to reach the diamonds from beneath.

One of my favourite details is hidden inside the band, where the original hand engraving reads “H.R to A.MC.D 14.8.21”. The inscription confirms the ring was in use by August 1921 and gives us such a lovely tangible connection to its history. It was likely given to mark a significant personal occasion, perhaps an engagement, wedding or anniversary, with the initials recording the giver and recipient.

Five-stone rings have long been associated with enduring love and commitment, making the original 1921 inscription inside this example all the more special.
