Antique double strand fancy link chain bracelet, in 9ct gold

An eclectic antique 9ct gold double strand Albertina style bracelet, dating to around the early 20th century.

The bracelet features a beautiful fine fancy link chain with intricate twisted and coiled wire detailing, accompanied by a heavier curb link chain which is believed to have been added later in the piece's life. The curb links are individually stamped 375, on every link, with hues of rose gold and yellow gold throughout, the dog clip is stamped '9CT'.

At 20cm in length and weighing a substantial 14.9 grams, it's a wonderfully tactile piece of antique gold with that warm, softly aged colour that only comes with time. The contrasting chains give it an unusual, slightly eclectic/irregular appearance which, for me, is very much part of its charm - a piece that has clearly been worn, adapted and loved throughout its long life.

This piece shows considerable evidence of its age and history, but remains structurally sound and ready to be worn. The curb chain in particular has areas of significant wear and thinning to the links, alongside historic solder repairs and alterations. The connecting loop used to fasten the dog clip has also been soldered.

The curb chain is believed to be a later addition to the original fancy link Albertina, although, as with many antique pieces that have been altered throughout their lifetime, its exact history cannot be known with certainty.
