A beautiful antique brooch crafted in 9ct gold, dating to the Georgian era. Featuring a large central amethyst surrounded by a halo of seed pearls, with a frame of flat cut garnets in a closed back setting, that form an incredible spiky silhouette.

A gentle and soft hue of lilac to the central cushion cut amethyst, with lovely rounded corners and held in a collect/crimped edge setting. Hugging this central amethyst is a sea of lustrous seed pearls, each one completely unique, with good nacre and a moonlike shimmer. 

Framing this central adornment are sixteen flat cut garnets, carefully framed in a collet setting with crimped edges and a closed back. To the rear of the piece is the base metal pin, with a tube hinge and a c-catch fastening, the pin itself extending beyond the edge of the piece, traditional to a brooch of this era.

Condition report

This piece is in antique condition, signs of use and wear as expected with age. Patina to the brooch as expected, pin or stem is base metal, some repair work done to the tube hinge fastening. Inclusions shown to the stones under a jewellers loupe/magnification, but free from cracks.

Measurements and sizing

This brooch measures 2.53cm x 2.11cm, not including length of the pin (just the rectangular face).

Amethyst measures 12.9mm x 8.7mm.
