A wonderful antique sterling silver brooch, designed as a curved horseshoe entwined with a slender riding crop.

Likely dating to the early Edwardian era, this charming equestrian piece has a wonderfully tactile feel, with softly worn silver, hand-finished details and a beautifully aged patina throughout. The riding crop wraps naturally across the centre of the horseshoe, finished with delicate twisted detailing that gives the piece lovely movement and texture.

Horseshoe jewellery became especially fashionable during the Victorian period, worn as symbols of luck, protection and safe journeys. Combined with the riding crop motif, this brooch has a distinctly romantic sporting feel, reminiscent of countryside pursuits and traditional equestrian dress.

The reverse retains its original long pin fastening and c-clasp, both consistent with antique jewellery of the period.

An elegant little antique brooch with plenty of character and unusual detailing.
