Antique pink tourmaline necklace pendant, in 9 carat gold

A gorgeous antique Edwardian pendant, crafted in 9 carat gold and set with four beautifully vivid pink tourmalines. This piece has the most ethereal, romantic feel to it. The elongated openwork design is unmistakably influenced by Art Nouveau, with sweeping lines of gold curling around one another to create an elegant, almost fleur-de-lis shaped silhouette. I love how delicate it looks without feeling overly ornate.

At the centre sit four round pink tourmalines, arranged in a cross formation and individually claw set. Their rich raspberry pink colour looks incredible against the warm gold and gives the pendant such a lovely little flash of colour.

Above the stones is a trio of stylised ivy like leaves, a wonderfully romantic detail. Ivy was a popular motif in jewellery of the period and traditionally associated with enduring affection, fidelity and devotion, making its inclusion here particularly sweet.

The pendant has that beautifully fluid quality found in so much jewellery from the turn of the 20th century, when the natural forms and flowing lines of Art Nouveau were influencing jewellery design. Despite all of the detail, it still feels incredibly wearable today and would sit beautifully at any point along the décolletage.
