A beautiful late Victorian to Edwardian brooch, crafted in 15 carat gold and set with delicate seed pearls, dating to around 1890-1910.

The brooch has the most gorgeous flowing design, with sweeping ribbons of warm gold curling around a central stylised ivy motif. Three pointed leaves are individually set with graduated seed pearls and centred by a larger pearl, with a tiny pearl set bud tucked just beneath. The asymmetric gold work gives the whole piece such a lovely sense of movement.

Ivy was a popular sentimental motif in Victorian jewellery, traditionally associated with fidelity, attachment and enduring love. It feels particularly fitting here, worked into a delicate botanical design. The reverse is stamped 15CT for 15 carat gold, a fineness widely used in British jewellery during this period and discontinued as a British legal standard in 1932.
