Antique victorian albertina chain with tassel, in sterling silver
Antique victorian albertina chain with tassel, in sterling silver
An absolutely stunning example of a classic Victorian albertina chain, beautifully crafted throughout in sterling silver and dating to 1897. Slender and cool toned, this piece has a refined elegance that is perfectly balanced by its rich sense of age and history.
The chain is formed in a foxtail link, known for its fluid movement and subtle texture, and is finished with two sliders that add both interest and functionality. One end is fitted with a traditional dog clip, while the other features a t bar, both hallmarked and wonderfully preserved.
A natural antique patina has developed over time, settling into every curve and crevice of the links. This gentle darkening accentuates the depth of the design, highlighting the craftsmanship and lending the piece an unmistakable Victorian character.
Suspended alongside the t bar is a decorative tassel, a highly desirable feature that enhances the visual appeal of the chain and adds a touch of movement. Measuring approximately 11.4 inches or 29cm from dog clip to bail loop, this shorter length makes the piece wonderfully versatile. It can be worn wrapped as a bracelet, used as a necklace extender, or styled as a decorative accent piece.
A beautiful and authentic Victorian silver chain, full of charm, character, and versatility.
