A gorgeous antique engine turned locket crafted in 9 carat gold, dating to the Victorian/Edwardian era. This piece has a lovely weight and size to it, the scalloped edge detailing creating a wonderful silhouette. On the face of the locket there is an intricate belt buckle motif, which in the Victorian language of symbolism represents eternal love, loyalty, unbreakable connection and strength. It was a popular love token, also commonly used in mourning jewellery to represent a bond that transcends death.

Surrounding the belt buckle is a fabulous engine turned pattern, creating a great texture to the piece and adding even more depth to this antique treasure. The reverse of the locket also features a vertical etched design. This piece weighs 8.66 grams, suiting a medium sized chain and looks fabulous on an Albert chain.

The locket opens to reveal a double interior. One side retains its oval frame and original glass, ready to hold a cherished photograph. The other side is empty but can easily be adapted with card backing and glass or plastic to secure an image.

A deeply sentimental and beautifully crafted antique, this locket is rich in symbolism, history, and craftsmanship, and remains a timeless and meaningful treasure.
