Antique victorian celestial diamond star pin, in 15ct gold

Dating to the late 19th century, this pin features an ornate circular design with applied bead and ropework detailing, surrounding a beautifully textured gold centre. At its heart sits a small rose cut diamond within an eight pointed star, giving the piece its wonderful celestial character, as well as the silhouette of the piece, a six pointed star.

Stars were a particularly meaningful motif in Victorian jewellery, often associated with guidance, hope and light. The celestial design is complemented beautifully by the warm buttery tones of the 15ct gold and intricate detailing so characteristic of jewellery from this period.
