Antique victorian etruscan almandine garnet brooch
Antique victorian etruscan almandine garnet brooch
A breathtaking, exuberant Victorian Etruscan revival brooch pendant, adorned with ornate details and with a lovely height to the piece. Studded with five lovely, vibrant almandine garnets, in the form of acorns, each stone secured within a prong / bezel setting.
The stones are suspended underneath foliate or acorn details, all atop a wonderful domed oval frame with incredibly fine filigree decorations and in an eternal knot form. Beautiful warm hues of gold throughout the piece with such a gorgeous natural patina to the pinchbeck. This piece is a brooch and pendant, as it has a bail loop to allow for use as a pendant. The acorn and oak had many meanings in the 1800s and throughout history, including stability, strength, and prosperity and was used in mourning jewellery.
