Antique victorian fox head pin with pink topaz eyes, in 9 carat gold
Antique victorian fox head pin with pink topaz eyes, in 9 carat gold
A gorgeous antique Victorian fox head stick pin, crafted in 9 carat gold and set with two tiny pink topaz eyes.
The fox has been beautifully modelled with pointed ears, a long tapered muzzle and wonderfully detailed hand worked fur giving his little face so much character. Two vivid pink topaz stones are set into the eyes, adding the loveliest flash of colour against the warm gold.
The fox head sits at the top of a long gold pin, finished with a subtle twisted detail along the stem. Animal and sporting motifs were particularly popular during the Victorian period, with foxes appearing frequently in jewellery associated with the countryside and traditional British sporting life, whilst also symbolising transformation, intelligence and intuition. Today I think he feels far less formal and just incredibly charming, a tiny antique fox with the sweetest pink eyes.
A really special little piece of Victorian jewellery and one that would look gorgeous worn traditionally on a lapel or scarf, or simply collected as a miniature piece of antique gold work.
