Here we have a super ethereal, mystifying, celestial Victorian piece. Crafted in high carat gold throughout, perfectly complementing the gemstone adorned face of the ring. A lovely floral openwork to the gallery and face, hugging six magical opals, a central amethyst and six further teeny tiny amethysts.
This beautiful ring dates back to the late Georgian / early Victorian era and has all the refined and exquisite charms that we see so often in jewellery crafted within that period. One of my favourite details to this piece are the shoulders, with crisp metalwork patterns that mimic shooting stars. The domed gallery has beautiful openwork details and a somewhat scalloped edge, reminiscent of petals.
I can't express how astonishing this ring really is - packed to the brim with detail, and gorgeous gems. Amethyst is the February birthstone. This piece is in beautiful antique condition, signs of use and wear as expected with age. The gemstones have some minor wear visible and some knocks to the metal settings (scuffs, scratches etc) when examined under a jeweller's loupe, yet secure in their settings. The band shows minimal patina with crisp and clear hallmarks.
