Antique victorian pearl and amethyst pendant, in 9 carat gold

A beautiful late Victorian necklace pendant, circa 1890s, crafted in warm 9ct gold with seed pearls set in to a delicate wreath and a sole pear cut amethyst suspended beneath a gorgeous clover motif.

This piece has a bright, playful feel to it, accentuated by the movement of the strikingly vibrant amethyst. The delicate clover motif at the top underneath the pearl-set bail loop and the leaf details that make up the wreath create a lovely organic yet feminine element to the pendant.

A fine gold stem suspends the amethyst, faceted teardrop or pear cut, rich violet in tone and bezel set in gold, allowing the depth of colour to show through beautifully in the light. The contrast between the mellow moon-like pearls, buttery gold and then the saturated amethyst is just wonderful. This unique piece looks fabulous on a chain.
