Antique victorian pearl & turquoise lucky horseshoe pin, in 15 carat gold
Antique victorian pearl & turquoise lucky horseshoe pin, in 15 carat gold
An incredibly charming Victorian pearl and turquoise coloured cabochon lucky horseshoe pin, crafted in 15ct & 9ct gold.
This lucky jewel is packed with character and symbolism, the horseshoe is one of my favourite motifs to see in antique jewellery.
Hues of bright high carat gold throughout the horseshoe, studded with alternating turquoise coloured cabochons and lustrous pearls.
The stem is crafted in 9 carat rose gold, which contrasts nicely to the 15 carat topper. This piece has a slightly chunky feel to it, much heavier than the usual pins. This horseshoe looks gorgeous when worn, but would equally suit converting in to a pendant.
Wearing horseshoe jewellery is said to bring good luck, protection and positive energy to the wearers' life - beliefs sparked in medieval Europe and remain strong to this day.
