Antique victorian pearl & turquoise lucky horseshoe pin, in 18 carat gold
Antique victorian pearl & turquoise lucky horseshoe pin, in 18 carat gold
An incredibly charming Victorian piece, packed with character and symbolism. Hues of bright high carat gold throughout the horseshoe, studded with alternating turquoise cabochons and lustrous natural pearls. Turquoise has rich history associated with healing, success, protection and good fortune and also is the birthstone for December.
The pin is crafted in 9 carat rose gold, which contrasts nicely to the 18 carat topper. This piece has a slightly chunky feel to it, much heavier than the usual 'daintier' pins you see. Wearing horseshoe jewellery is said to bring good luck, protection and positive energy to the wearers' life - beliefs sparked in medieval Europe and remain strong to this day.
